Alum and Great-Grandson of Nelson Mandela Speaks to Students

Today, alum Luvuyo Mandela ’05 visited campus to speak to Upper School students. During his talk, Luvuyo discussed his current work as a social entrepreneur in his native South Africa. Luvuyo also spoke about his time as a student at St. Anne’s-Belfield, including his time on the basketball team and his relationships with faculty.

Upper School students and faculty had the opportunity to ask him questions about his education both at STAB and Hamilton College, his future career hopes, and his relationship with his great-grandfather, Nelson Mandela.

Luvuyo’s strongest encouragement to the students was for them to take full advantage of the educators they have in the faculty at St. Anne’s-Belfield, and to embrace the challenges they receive on a daily basis to be better citizens of their community and their school.
