President Roosevelt Visits the Learning Village

President Theodore Roosevelt visited the Learning Village while he was in town for a visit to Pine Knot, the presidential retreat in Albemarle County purchased by his wife Edith in 1905. The president visited with students in grades three through six, all of whom had been reading biographies of his life and presidency and studying the “ripple in the pond” effect of history. Meeting together as historians, the president and students had the opportunity to discuss the ways in his decisions influenced their own lives today.

Thanks to Joe Wiegand for a wonderful visit. Wiegand has portrayed President Roosevelt in all 50 states, at the White House, and in numerous international locations.
